Protect yourself when hiring
Check the roofer in the Kansas Attorney General roofing registration directory and confirm a status of In Good Standing. In Wichita and unincorporated Sedgwick County, ask for the roofer's MABCD contractor license; elsewhere, ask your city's building office what it requires. Ask for proof of liability insurance and workers' compensation, get a written contract, and avoid large up-front payments. Never let anyone offer to cover your deductible by inflating a claim.
